eBay Success- Not all your customers are going to be as nice as you.

By: Dave Articlesubmit

There is a saying among embittered eBay sellers that it would be a great business if it was not for the customers. However if you want eBay success as a seller it is imperative that you are able top deal with difficult customers. It is a sad fact of life that not everyone you deal with will be as nice as you.
The big secret about custom care is to always keep your cool and no matter how annoying a customer may be do not get into a situation where you are exchanging insults and threats. You should always correspond with customers promptly and in a polite and professional manner.
The biggest cause of problems can be when having made a successful bid or agreed a purchase the customer does not come up with the payment. If you have not received payment within a week of sending them the original confirmation email you should contact them. There can be many reasons why they have not paid often it can simply be that they have forgotten. In this case your polite reminder will do the trick.
If this does not work and the payment is still not forth coming then you will need to consider what further action to take. Chasing non payers even if you are using the eBay Resolution Centre can be a time consuming process and to be quite honest is often not worth the effort. If you decide to take this route you have between 7 to 45 days to open an unpaid case. The buyer then has up to 7 days to respond. If you are serious about your eBay success you may consider that the whole effort is just not going to be worth it. You could be better just putting a block on that buyer ever making a bid on any item of yours ever again.
One of the problems if you do adopt a confrontational attitude is that the non-paying buyer will submit a negative feedback. No matter how undeserved such action is it is very difficult these days to get negative feedback withdrawn and even if you are successful the negative feedback may be withdrawn from your statistics but the comment will remain.
Some eBayers will argue that you have a duty to chase non sellers to prevent them doing the same to others. However your goal is eBay success and it may not be worth chasing people who have absolutely no intention of paying for the item they have bid on or agreed to purchase. Tilting at windmills did not work for Don Quixote and it will not work for you.
