Golf Tips to Cure That Slice

When you are a golfer, one of the biggest faults in your game may well be your tendency to slice. There are plenty of golf tips out there that are meant to help you correct your golf swing, but what if the slice is the biggest problem that you are going to be dealing with? If you have ever thought that you had a great set up, only to see your ball veer off to the left or the right, you know how thoroughly frustrating this phenomenon can be! Happily, with the right golf tips, you'll find that your golf swing can be corrected and your slice can be minimized to the point where it disappears.

The first thing that you need to think about is your swing plane. The swing plane, in this instance, is described as the arc that your golf club takes from the start of the swing to the end of it. If your swing plane is not situated dead center, you are going to slice the ball. Remember that when you are using a driver, the plane tends to be flatter. Remember that you have different clubs for a reason! You cannot replicate the same swing plane for each club.

If you want to improve your golf swing to eliminate slicing, take a look at your grip. The way your hold your golf club will strongly affect the ball flight you achieve. If your grip is too loose the clubhead will turn on you, causing the ball to slice. If your grip is too tight you'll also end up with a slice, because you'll pull the club back over your shoulder. Find and use a grip that's just right - one that lets you hit the ball straight on and doesn't let the clubhead veer off center.

Here's another one of the golf tips that will take the slice out of your game: remember to look at the balance of your golf swing. Think about your swing and how and where you finish it. Many golfers know that you can judge the quality of your golf swing by how well you finish. Ask yourself if you finish your swing confidently or do you overbalance? Do you use enough power or do you swing too hard? You'll learn that while you are practicing there are several reasons to freeze your position at the end of your stroke. This will let you be able to judge where your weight is and how balanced you feel at the end of your stroke.

Take some time to check your alignment, too. You need to remember that your entire body is swinging the club. Too many amateurs use their upper body too much when they swing. The upper body is important, but you should never forget that using your legs and a proper stance are crucial too. Look down at the ball before you hit it, and make sure that all of your body is properly lined up with your target.
